• Market Insights Update: The planning process commenced with an extensive update on the most critical aspects of the carbon market. Emphasis was placed on core carbon principles as outlined by ICVCM, accreditation programs from ICROA and Corsia, as well as discussions regarding Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and international carbon market advancements.
• Digitalization & Modernization: Identified opportunities underscore the imperative need to advance digitalization within our certification system, harnessing digital MRV tools, continuously improving our program to align with international best practices, adopting new methodologies to focus on sectors with potential, and strengthening capacities across our team and stakeholders, including VVBs and Developers.
• Worldwide Standard Aspiration: Ultimately, this strategic planning positions Cercarbono to achieve its vision of becoming one of the world’s premier standards, not only in carbon but also in circular economy and biodiversity. We aim to be a standard that remains closely connected with all stakeholders, delivering high-quality projects that contribute to a more sustainable world.

This strategic planning period, spanning from 2024 to 2028, marks a crucial milestone in our journey. It is focused on advancing climate solutions, voluntary carbon certification, circular economy initiatives, and biodiversity programs. These endeavors will set a global benchmark, elevating Cercarbono’s role in fighting climate change while ensuring market transparency and integrity.

Our first strategic planning meeting, held in Medellín, Colombia, brought together members from all sectors of our organization, including management, technical, commercial, communications, and administrative teams. It serves as a steppingstone for ongoing discussions and actions throughout 2023 as we strive to achieve our organization’s ambitious goals.
