Official Statement No. 12 – Mandatory new social and environmental safeguards
Cercarbono announces the update of its Safeguarding Principles and Procedures, effective from 24 September 2024, applicable to all current verifications and future projects. The updated framework introduces alignment with the UN Global Compact, enhanced due diligence, mandatory Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC), clearer reporting requirements, and detailed risk management protocols. The update reinforces Cercarbono’s differentiated approach to the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities.
