In the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, organizations from around the world, including businesses and governments, have come together to set a vision and targets for tackling pollution from waste, mainly plastic waste, in order to achieve material circularity.

These initiatives have laid the groundwork for wide-ranging voluntary cooperation, but they are not enough. A binding international approach is needed to amplify current efforts and level the playing field, to bring about change on an industrial scale and end waste pollution.

Consequently, together with Zero Waste Global, we have developed the Voluntary Programme on Circular Economy, which is conceived as an instrument to fight waste-generated pollution and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals through the recovery of products and materials along the value chain, with which Circular Economy Credits are traded to support the financing of reduction and recirculation projects that are part of Programme or Project on Circular Economy Materials.

The Tool to report contributions provides a practical way for holders or developers to report on how their activities contribute to different areas of social, environmental, and economic development. It also offers buyers of Circular Economy Credits valuable information when differentiating between credits generated in the same activity with the additional guarantee that the project contributes to the fulfilment of targets set in the SDGs.

That is why, on 26 January, we opened the public consultation of the Tool for reporting contributions of circular economy initiatives to the Sustainable Development Goals for comments, which will be open until 25 January and here on our website www.cercarbono.com you can enter and make your contributions.
