The event held in the city of Medellin, Colombia, made it possible to strengthen the carbon market in Latin America, as well as our standard.
On August 24, 25 and 26, Cercarbono actively participated in the 4th Colombia and Latin America Climate Summit, an event that brought together more than 700 experts from the public and private sectors of Colombia and Latin America who are committed to mitigation of climate change through carbon markets.
Developers of Nature- and Technology-Based Solutions projects, Greenhouse Gas Validation and Verification Bodies, Brokers, ONGs, Certifiers, Industries, International Cooperation, the banking sector, public officials and other actors, participated in the different academic panels and of the commercial stands that allowed, among others, to strengthen the carbon guild of the Latin American region.
Carlos Trujillo, CEO of Cercarbono and Álvaro Vallejo, Programme Director of our company, participated in 3 discussion panels called (“Technology for managing the traceability of transactions”, “International Cooperation Agencies: support for climate actions for public and private sectors” and “Lessons learned: REDD+ and Afforestation/Reforestation”) in which they evidenced all their experience in matters related to carbon markets, and thus lead to a reflection on the importance of continuing to advance in the reduction of Greenhouse Gases worldwide to achieve the 2030 goal of achieving carbon neutrality.
Finally, thanks to the participation in the trade show of the event, Cercarbono and Ecoregistry were able to get closer to their clients, allies and new users to strengthen knowledge about the different processes and documentation that the standard handles to facilitate and guarantee the registration of Programs or Climate Change Mitigation Projects (CCMP), the certification of emissions and the registration of carbon credits generated by these initiatives.
